Finally have my MBP up and running via Boot Camp with the latest build of Windows 7 (7048), it all seems pretty smooth. Although the touch pad is pretty crappy in Windows, doesn’t recognize taps as nicely as Mac OS X does, but I have a USB mouse to deal with that. Although set to expire in August of this year (rumour has it) I plan to see what I can and can’t do. Although Firefox does act up on it. It will lock up the entire system and I’m forced to do a hard reboot (hold power button down). Sadly I also realized that I formated my external HDD as a HFS+ and thus have no access to it *sigh*. So I’ll have to back up format it and then try again. 32GB is SOOO not enough for a Windows 7 partion. After a clean install I’m already sitting at just over 14GB! However I knew it would be big, just not that big. I’m also still trying ti figure out why Wordpress refuses to let me use “SEO happy” permalinks in my URL, and it’s quite frustrating… Gonna have to do some more forum trolling.
EDIT: Feeds and Permalinks now working (b^.^)b
So I’ve had my new MacBook Pro now for about 3 weeks and I’m lovin’ every bit of it (MAJOR upgrade from my Toshiba Satellite A20). It runs smooth and for me, wasn’t too hard to get accustom to. I’ve Worked within Linux/Unix for quite a while, and started in Windows (like most people), so the move to OS X was inevitable, I was looking forward to it. The interface it quite streamlined in that you don’t have to deal with a “Start” menu, things I use 90% of the time like Photoshop and iTunes, eclipse, iCal, etc., are on my dock. As for the rest I just Command+Space and then type what I want. All to often I’ve been distracted by the many programs in my start menu and forget what I was even looking for… Continue reading ‘Mmm Macbook Pro…’
Been quite busy lately with assignments, too busy, have one due everyday since Sunday, I finish Friday, then it’s a whole new beast. In the mean time I’ve been trying to organize the Thrill The World Event for LU and it’s been going relatively smoothly I still am a little nervous about it but it should go just fine.
Currently I’m taking a break from coding an assignment for my programing class, then it’s on to my final assignment of the week discrete mathematics. I’m also still waiting for my MBP, due to an unfortunate mix-up in payment I probably won’t be getting it until early next week (I really wanted it for the TTW event, would have made my life easier…). and my Adobe Photoshop CS4 sadly won’t be arrive until a few days before Christmas! (whoa is me…). But I have a Judo tournament to look forward to, however I think it falls on a day I have two exams so hopefully I can still make it.
In the mean time I’ll just be watching this Cult of Mac slide show in the corner of my eye…
よし!頑張ります~!
And for those of you that don’t read Japanese: It’s been a while…
I’ve been super busy since school started with various endeavors tasks and assignments, but I’m trying to keep my sanity. I’m actually cooking up a midnight snack before I hit up some physics. I just thought I’d take some time now to summarize my absence.
First my Tenba shootout back pack. It’s AMAZING. It fits everything I need and then some. I’m able to get all of my gear into minus some drop cloths and a light stand but it holds everything I need for a location strobe shoot. This snuggly houses all my cables and doodads, batteries and chargers, a soft box, umbrella, two strobes, wireless triggers, Canon S1 IS, Holga GN, Filters, 5in1 reflector, Canon EF 50mm II, Canon EF-S 17-55mm, Sigma 70-200 DG HSM Macro II, a light stand, tripod and last but not least my 400D (and soon my MBP).

The photo here I took with my new Sigma lens, I did very little to the photo other than up the saturation. I wish I could afford the Canon IS model but alas I am a student. It was a fun time I hadn’t been to a wedding in a while and it allowed me to try out some lighting techniques which worked pretty well.
